BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The ninth season of competition for Bryn Athyn Men's basketball is set to start in one week, as the Lions are set to open their season on the road at University of Maryland Eastern Shore in an exhibition. Men's basketball will have their season and home opener at Asplundh Field House on Wednesday November 16 at 7 PM when they take on Penn State Berks.
The Lions are set to play a full, competitive schedule this season with contests against teams from the Landmark, Centennial, United East, NJAC, and C2C conferences. The team is coming off one of the more successful seasons in program history despite 11-single digit losses and a 7-18 finish. Bryn Athyn peaked at the end of the year where they went 6-5 and finished as the best offensive team in the conference.
The Coach Says: "We are excited about this season to continue to hunt excellence and build off the foundation we have poured. Last season was never the season we expected, but absolutely the one we needed," said Coach Sean Westerlund. "Experiencing 11-single digit losses really exposed us to what it meant to be competitive in college basketball games and what it took to win a college basketball game. We bring back our top seven players from last season and added some nice transfers to the mix. I am excited to see this program continue to meet and exceed the standard."
On Expectations this Year: "We achieved our highest preseason poll ranking for the second consecutive year which is always exciting. We have plenty to prove and much to earn," Coach West said. "We want to remain present in all that we do and focus on our process. We believe if we can do that we will have a chance to reach our goals. We know our brand. We know our identity. It will always be our goal to have teams repeat those qualities back to us after they play us. We are connected, joyful, competitive, and selfless. This is the most connected team I have ever coached and I know regardless of anything else, that will allow us to experience some success."
Bryn Athyn will host 13 home games and travel 12 times this season.

Three Questions for the 2022-23 Season
1. The Lions bring back their top seven and added multiple transfers, how will this group mesh together and can they build off of the end of last season?
2. The team had the second leading scorer in the conference in Jamal Cannady Jr. and as a team showed themselves to be the top offensive team in the league, will the Lions take their offense up to the next level?
3. Bryn Athyn had 11 games decided by single digits that resulted in a loss. Is the team ready poised to turn some of those single-digit losses to more favorable results?
