The eighth season of competition for Bryn Athyn Men's basketball is set to start this week, as the Lions are set to host Manor College (PA) at the Asplundh Field House. The 2021-22 is a return to a more normal season after the pandemic forced the Lions into an unprecedented shortened exhibition season last year.
The Lions are set to play a full 25-game schedule and an exhibition against NCAA Division I opponent University of Maryland Eastern Shore for the 2021-22 season. The team is coming off a shortened 2021 COVID exhibition season after the pandemic canceled traditional play. Bryn Athyn is hoping to use last year's six week season as a springboard into the first official season under head coach, Sean Westerlund.
The Coach Says: "I think I speak for the entire program when I say how excited we are to return to a more normal season. There is a lot of potential with this group and there is some palpable buzz around the program," Coach West said. "We just got word we received the highest preseason vote in program history. We have plenty to prove and we are fired up for that opportunity.
On Expectations this Year: "Our bubble season last year was everything and more that we needed. It challenged us as a program and as individuals. The exhibition season revealed a lot and we are grateful for that. We feel as a program we have done a good job addressing some of those needs through in house development and with recruiting. We have put together a talented roster," Coach West said. "We talk about this idea of potential and how it is a powerful word at the beginning of the year, but a dirty word at the end of the season. We want to truly make the most of the opportunities presented to us. Our goal is to consistently compete and be a tough out. We are going to be a connected team that plays with great joy, competitiveness, and selflessness. If we can do those things, we will have a chance to achieve the goals we have as a program."
Bryn Athyn will host 12 home games and travel 13 times this season.

Three Questions for the 2021-22 Season
1. The Lions have added a lot of news faces in the last 16 months. How will the team mesh together in a full season, and what will each game look like?
2. The team struggled to create consistent offense last year. With the loss of Tariq Moore, who led the team in scoring, how will the Lions create offense and will they show improvement in becoming a more efficient offensive team?
3. Bryn Athyn showed improvement in several areas on the court last year, can they continue to make strides in those areas which can allow them to make some noise in nonconference and CSAC play?
