Newark, DE – The Bryn Athyn College men's college hockey team picked up their first win of the season against University of Delaware 13-3 in DVCHC conference action.
Scott Witmyer led the Lions with three goals and two assists for five points. Terrence Johnson and Jayson Marbach scored two goals and two assists each for four points. Jordan Roth scored a goal and added two assists.
Alex Hyatt started the scoring for Bryn Athyn, 12:15 into the first period off a pass from Anthony Astorino. Witymer extended the lead to two at 5:47 to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage. Delaware answered with a goal 45 seconds later to bring the game within one. Bryn Athyn went into the first period leading 2-1.
Marbach scored 1:15 minutes into the second period to rebuild the two goals for Bryn Athyn. The Fighting Blue Hens scored two back-to-back goals to tie the game at 3-3 all with 10 minutes left in the second period. Delaware takes a timeout to slow the Bryn Athyn momentum after the tying goal. But Bryn Athyn kept the offensive pressure, scoring six unanswered goals to take, a 9-3 commanding leading.
The Lions scored four more goals in the third led by Sean Fyler with two goals, Witmyer and Marbach to win their first game of the season 13-3.
Kyle Watters made 16 saves in net for the Lions.
Bryn Athyn heads on the road tomorrow to face East Stroudsburg in DVCHC conference action. Puck is set to drop at 12:30 pm.
