Pittston, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey defeated East Stroudsburg 6-4 in conference action Sunday afternoon.
Anthony Notofrancesco led the Lions with a goal and two assists. Billy Reilly scored two goals, in the conference win. Scott Witmyer scored a goal and notched one assist. Terrence Johnson and Travis McCurdy scored one goal a piece.
Bryn Athyn started the scoring in the last five minutes of the first period. Johnson scored with 4:12 left in the period to lift the Lions 1-0, off a pass from Witmyer. Two minutes later, Reilly netted his first goal of the night to build the Bryn Athyn lead to 2-0 before the break.
Reilly notched his second goal, at the nine-minute mark, to extend the Bryn Athyn lead to 3-0. With 2:30 left in the second period Witmyer scored to keep Lion offensive pressure. McCurdy added to the offensive efforts, scoring with a minute left the period to build the Bryn Athyn lead to 5-0. The Warriors scored their first goal with 21 seconds left to chip away at the Bryn Athyn lead. With seconds left in the second, Notofrancesco scored to rebuild the Lion five goal lead, 6-1.
East Stroudsburg would score three answered goals in the third, but wasn't enough to chip away the Lion's lead. Bryn Athyn would win their second conference game of the weekend, 6-4 on the road.
Graham Lermitte made 53 saves in net for the Lions.
Bryn Athyn heads on the road to play University of Pennsylvania at 3:00 next Saturday.
