ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team was voted fifth by the Colonial States Athletic Conference's seven head coaches in their annual preseason poll that was released by the conference office on Tuesday.
The Lions—who earned 18 points in the preseason ranking—bring back an experienced squad with 14 players returning, including seven seniors, from last year's team that went 5-11-0.
Edgar Rodriguez and Zach Brock are Bryn Athyn's top returning scorers with four goals, which was second on the team, each in 2017. Rodriguez added two assists to finish the season with 10 points, second on the team. Matheus Souza recorded three goals and a team-high four assists as a junior a year ago. Nine of the 14 Lions coming back this season scored a goal.
Keystone, the 2017 CSAC Tournament runner-up, tops the poll with 48 points and six of the seven available first-place votes. Centenary (N.J.) picked up 41 points and the final first-place vote to end up in second place. Cairn was third with 36 points, while Wilson was tabbed fourth with 24 points.
Clarks Summit (16 points) and Rosemont (13 points) rounded out the poll.
Bryn Athyn opens the 2018 season on Friday, August 31 at Penn State Harrisburg at noon.
