GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Bryn Athyn Men's Soccer team move to 3-1, with a 2-1 victory in overtime on Wednesday over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins.
Both teams played a scoreless forty five minutes to start the contest.
In the second half, with the Lions playing a man down for the remainder of the game the Griffins went ahead 1-0 with just under seven minutes remaining in the second half.
Bryn Athyn would answer with a header of their own, less than a minute later, at the 84:03 mark with a goal off the head of Farid Amari. Neither team would be able to capitalize momentum in the closing minutes forcing the game to overtime.
Then with just over three minutes left into the overtime period, Usufu Johnson capitalized on a breakaway opportunity to give Bryn Athyn the 2-1 victory.
Ryan Weinkopff recorded two saves for the Lions to pick up the victory.
The Lions return home Saturday September 12th to host Delaware Valley at 1p.m.
