BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – A season-high eight players found the back of the net for the Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team as the Lions notched their first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory of the season, 13-7 over SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday night on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
Cameron Leech and Jon Carr propelled the Bryn Athyn (2-5, 1-0 NEAC) offense with three goals each. Leech added four assists to finish with a season-high seven points.
Nolan Frame posted a pair of goals, while Andrew Coyle, Nolan Bosserman, Ricky Tran, Dakota Ulmer, and Riley Flynn all scored once. In addition to his goal, Coyle had two assists.
Alex Hyatt had three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
The Fighting Tigers (2-3, 0-1 NEAC) laid claim to an early 1-0 lead when Kiran Tierney scored the first of his four goals 1:19 into the match. Bryn Athyn trailed for exactly two minutes as Leech leveled the score with an unassisted goal at the 11:41 mark. The match remained tied until Carr scored for the first time with 4:20 to play in the period. Bosserman doubled the Lion advantage just 1:07 after Bryn Athyn took the lead.
SUNY Cobleskill trimmed the Bryn Athyn lead to 3-2 on the first of two Sean Degnan goals with 9:22 left into the half. Leech and Tran got the Lions back on track with back-to-back goals to increase the margin 5-2 with 6:46 remaining. After a Tierney goal cut the gap to 5-3, Flynn and Carr closed out the half by scoring a goal to give Bryn Athyn a 7-3 halftime lead.
Bryn Athyn took a six-goal advantage for the first time in the contest with 6:41 remaining in the third quarter thanks to goals from Carr and Frame. The Lions' advantage was 9-4 after three as Garrett Vigrass scored for the Fighting Tigers with 43 seconds left.
With the Bryn Athyn lead down to 11-6, Leech and Ulmer scored one minute apart to give the Lions a game-high seven-goal margin (13-6) with 1:32 to play.
Brad DePasquale was the winning goal after stopping 10 shots in 52:07 of action. Cullen McNally made two saves in relief. The Fighting Tigers' Willie Wilson made 12 saves.
Bryn Athyn owned a 43-26 advantage in shots and a 33-21 cushion in ground balls.
The Lions have a week off before taking on the three-time reigning and defending NEAC champion Morrisville State on Wednesday, April 4 at 4 p.m. on General Nelson Field.
