Men's lacrosse to open NEAC play against SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday night

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team begins North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) competition on Wednesday, March 28 against SUNY Cobleskill at 7 p.m. on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.

LAST TIME OUT
Bryn Athyn (1-5) couldn't complete a fourth-quarter rally in a 12-9 loss to visiting King's (Pa.) on March 24. The Lions trailed 11-5 going into the final 15 minutes and managed to get as close as 11-9. Cameron Leech racked up five goals and one assist, while Jon Carr added two goals and two assists.

SUNY Cobleskill (2-2) was knocked off 16-6 by host Bard in its last contest on March 14. Kiran Tierney and Jeremy Mowrey paced the offense by each scoring a pair of goals.

SERIES HISTORY
Bryn Athyn is a perfect 3-0 against SUNY Cobleskill, winning by an average of 11.7 goals. Last season's meeting was the closest of the three as the Lions picked up an 18-9 victory at Cobleskill.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Lions are playing the third of four consecutive home matches. Bryn Athyn is 1-3 at home this season and averaging 10.50 goals per game. In the first two games of this home stand, the Lions have put up 8.5 goals.

Cameron Leech continues to lead the NEAC in assists (18) and points (31). After recording six points, including a career-high five goals, against King's, Leech now has five or more points in five straight matches. Leech sits seventh in Division III with a NEAC-leading 3.0 assists per game.

Nolan Frame and Jon Carr have both found the back of the net in all six matches. Frame is third in the NEAC with 17 goals and second with five man-up goals, both team highs. Carr has 14 goals to sit fourth in the league.

The Lions won 10 faceoffs against the Monarchs, the third time that the team has won at least 10 faceoffs in a match.

Bryn Athyn has the second-best clearing percentage in the NEAC at 80.4 percent. The Lions cleared at an 84.6 percent clip versus King's, the fourth time the Lions cleared at 80.0 percent or better.

Brad DePasquale is second in the conference with 64 saves.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING TIGERS
SUNY Cobleskill is playing its fifth of seven road games to open the 2018 season.

The Fighting Tigers are fourth in the NEAC in scoring (9.50) and third in goals against average (9.37). SUNY Cobleskill is 2-0 when it scores 10 or more goals and 0-2 when it doesn't reach double figures. The team has converted 26.3 percent (5-of-19) of its man-up opportunities, which is third in the NEAC.

Sean Degnan leads the offense with 12 goals to rank ninth in the conference. He has scored in all four of the Fighting Tigers' matches. Degnan is averaging 8.75 shots per game.

Jeremy Mowrey has eight goals and one assist in three matches. Kiran Tierney and Garrett Vigrass each have six goals. Tierney has scored three times with the Fighting Tigers a man-up.

In each of the last two matches, the Fighting Tigers have won at least 50 percent of their faceoffs. Kyle Magdziuk sits fifth in the NEAC with a team-high 34 faceoff wins. Magdziuk is 25-of-40 on faceoffs in the last two matches.

Willie Wilson has played all 243:13 in the Fighting Tiger net. Wilson has 46 saves, a 54.8 save percentage, and a 9.37 goals against average.
