Bryn Athyn, PA – The men's lacrosse team hosted SUNY Poly in another NEAC game with big playoff implications for the Lions. The Lions held off Poly for the 11-4 victory and move into third place in the NEAC.
The Lions opened up the scoring a minute and a half into the game when Christian Blair scored on a pass from Nolan Frame. Jess Frazier and Ryan Landels added two more goals, both unassisted, to go up 3-0. Poly added a goal at the 3:48 mark to cut into the Lions lead. The first quarter ended with the Lions up 3-1.
Ryan Landels added a goal at the 9:18 mark of the second quarter to put the Lions up 4-1. Landels would add another goal, assisted by Jesse Frazier, at the four-minute mark. Nolan Frame would add a goal with a minute left in the half to give the Lions the 6-2 halftime lead.
The Lions outscored Poly in the third quarter 4-1 behind two goals by Nolan Frame. Lion's Shane McCurdy and Andrew Coyle each scored a goal in the quarter to help put the Lions up 10-3. The Lions goalkeeper Robert Moran made four saves in the third to help keep Poly off the scoreboard.
The Lions opened up the fourth looking to hold onto their significant lead by working the clock on each possession. Steve Petaccio scored the Lions only goal of the fourth while a man up, to put the Lions up 11-3. Poly would add another goal late, but proved to be not enough as the Lions held on for the 11-4 victory.
The Lions were led by Nolan Frame and Ryan Landels with three goals apiece. Robert Moran had another great day in goal, making nine saves on 13 shots.
The Lions move to 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the NEAC. The Lions keep their playoff hopes alive and move into third place in the conference. The Lions look to secure a playoff spot as they travel to Cazenovia on April 30th.
