Rowan Slips by Men's Ice Hockey in Game 2 of the DVCHC Championships

Aston, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team fell to Rowan 9-7 in game 2 of the DVCHC Championships in Saturday night action.

Terrence Johnson led the Lions with four goals and an assist. David DalCortivo registered three assists and a goal, while Ray Norfo notched three assists. Benjamin Silvers added two assists and Travis McCurdy recorded a goal and an assist. Ray Weissler notched a goal, while Jordan Roth and Patrick Huber each registered an assist.  

The Lions got on the board first at the 18:13 mark, when Norfo found Johnson who skated into the zone and one timed the puck in from the left wing. At the 17:44 mark, Rowan scored, to tie the game at 1-1. Twenty seconds later, the Profs scored again, taking a 2-1 lead. At the 6:34 mark, Rowan notched their third goal of the game, taking a two goal lead. One minute later, Norfo and DalCortivo sent a cross ice pass to Johnson, who deked the goalie, and cut the Profs' lead to one. With 5:07 left in the first, Rowan scored to take a 4-2 lead going into the second period. 

Rowan came out strong in the second period, scoring two goals at the 19:14 and 17:22 marks, to take a commanding 6-2 lead. At the 15:25 mark, DalCortivo scored a wrap around goal, assisted by Silvers and Norfo, to chip away at the Profs' lead. Less than a minute later, DalCortivo and Johnson passed the puck into the slot and found Weissler, to bring the Lions within two. At the 11:05 mark, Travis McCurdy and Silvers found Johnson for a power play goal. Two minutes later, DalCortivo sent a pass to Johnson who buried it home on a 2 on 1, to tie the game at 6-6. One minute later, Huber and Roth found Travis McCurdy in the slot, to give Bryn Athyn a 7-6 lead going into the final period.

During the final period of play, Rowan went on the score three goals at the 17:56, 13:52, and 10:10 marks, to take the game 9-7, and force a deciding game three. 

The Lions return to the ice Sunday, February 24th in game 3 of the DVCHC Championship series. The puck is set to drop at 12:00pm in rink 3 at IceWork Skating Complex in Aston, Pa.
