Lions fall 12-11 in overtime to Immaculata in season opener

Immaculata Pa - Bryn Athyn men's lacrosse team traveled to Immaculata for their season opener. The Lions lost in overtime 12-11. 

The Lions went out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Christian Blair and Steve Petaccio. Both goals were assisted by Luke Frazier. Immaculata took back the lead after three unassisted goals by Brendan Doyle. 

The Lions tied the score in the second quarter on a goal by Nolan Frame assisted by Andrew Coyle. Coyle then scored an unassisted goal to give the Lions the 4-3 lead. Immaculata again was able to come back and take the lead at the end of the second quarter, 5-4. 

Immaculata held an 8-6 lead at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw the Lions outscore Immaculata 5-3, led by 2 unassisted goals by Andrew Coyle. Nolan Frame scored the biggest goal of the quarter with 1:07 left, which tied the game at 11 and sent the game into overtime.

In overtime Immaculata's Brendan Doyle scored his fifth goal of the game securing the Mighty Macs first victory of the season. 12-11.

Bryn Athyn Head Coach Tucker Durkin said of his first career collegiate game, " Immaculata deserves alot of credit for the win, they worked hard and executed all four quarters. I thought we were a little careless with the ball in the clearing game, and that really seeem to hurt us in terms of possession. I was, however really proud of the guys and their ability to battle back and never quit to force the game into OT. That resilience speaks to the types of guys we have."

The Lions were led by Andrew Coyle with 4 goals on 8 shots on goal. Luke Frazier, Jesse Frazier and Ryan Landels accumalated 5 ground balls each. Robert Moran made 13 saves on 25 shots.

The Lions are bck in action on Saturday March 19th as they host Moravian at 3 :00 pm.
