Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated Lehigh 6-1 in Friday night action.
Terrence Johnson led the Lions with two goals and an assist. David DalCortivo recorded a goal and two assists. Travis McCurdy notched a goal and an assist, while Andrew Manogue and Ray Norfo each added two assists. Blake McCurdy and Cade Gurney recorded a goal apiece, and Benjamin Silvers and Ray Weissler each notched an assist.
Bryn Athyn got on the board first at the 8:20 mark when Silvers took the puck down the ice and crossed it to Blake McCurdy for the goal. With three minutes left in the period, the Lions took a 2-0 lead when DalCortivo found Travis McCurdy who shot the puck off the crossbar and into the goal.
During the second period of play, the Lions increased their lead at the 14:12 mark when Weissler and Norfo passed the puck across the slot and found Johnson who one-timed it in. At the 4:50 mark Manogue and Travis McCurdy connected with Gurney, who found the rebound for the goal. Lehigh scored at the 2:36 mark, to chip away at the Lions' lead. With one second left in the period, Johnson scored on a rebound off a shot from Norfo and DalCortivo.
During the final period of play, DalCortivo recorded a power play goal at the 18:23 mark, off a pass from Johnson and Manogue.
Freshman goalie Steve Altman expressed, "Tonight was a strong game from our offense eh. They pinned them deep in their zone and didn't allow them to be a threat in our zone. It was a strong game from our forwards back today eh, just excited for the playoffs eh should be a great one."
The Lions host conference opponent Shippensburg Saturday, February 2nd. The puck is set to drop at 8:00pm.
