Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team fell to D1 Drexel 7-3 in Friday night action.
David Dalcartivo and Blake McCurdy led the team with a goal and an assist each. Cade Gurney, Travis McCurdy, Terrence Johnson, Patrick Huber, and Andrew Manogue each recorded an assist, while Ray Weissler added a goal.
During the first ten minutes of the period, possession switched back and forth between the Lions and the Dragons. With a Drexel player in the box for holding, Bryn Athyn got on the board first at the 8:56 mark, when Silvers passed to Blake McCurdy who centered the puck to Dalcartivo for the goal. One minute later, the Dragons scored, tying the game at 1-1.
During the second period of play, the Dragons took a 2-1 lead at the 15:48 mark. One minute later Huber passed to Johnson who took a shot from the blue line, and Weissler put the rebound in, tying the game at 2-2. At the 14:05 mark, Drexel took a 3-2 lead. Two minutes later, the Dragons scored again, taking a 4-2 lead. At the 10:04 mark, Steven Altman made a diving glove save, robbing Drexel of a goal. At the 6:03 mark, Manogue passed to Dalcartivo who took a shot from the point, and Blake McCurdy put the puck in off the deflection, bringing the Lions within one. A minute later the Dragons scored, taking a 5-3 lead going into the third period.
Drexel came out strong during the final period of play, scoring two goals to win the game 7-3.
Assitant Coach Andrew Burke expressed, " I thought the team responded extremely well after the long break. I feel like the team is poised and focused for a big second half of the season."
The Lions return to the road Friday, January 18th to face Rutgers-Camden. The puck is set to drop at 8:20pm.
