Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated East Stroudsburg 5-2 in Saturday afternoon action.
Terrence Johnson led the team with two goals and two assists. Ray Norfo notched one goal and one assist. Travis McCurdy and Benjamin Silvers each recorded a goal, while David Dalcartivo had one assist.
During the first period of play, momentum switched back and forth between Bryn Athyn and East Stroudsburg. With a Warriors' player in the box for interference, the Lions capitalized at the 14:42 mark, when Johnson connected with Silvers who one-timed the puck in from the left wing circle, giving Bryn Athyn a 1-0 lead going into the second period.
In the second period of play, the Lions took a 2-0 lead at the 12:30 mark when there was a scramble in front of the net and Johnson put the puck in off a rebound from Norfo. At the 7:59 mark, Travis McCurdy skated the puck up the ice on a breakaway and scored top right shelf. East Stroudsburg answered at the 3:42 mark, chipping away at Bryn Athyn's lead.
During the third period of play, Bryn Athyn took a 4-1 lead at the 16:39 mark when Johnson and Dalcartivo found Norfo who shot the puck top shelf for the goal. East Stroudsburg answered at the 6:41 mark, cutting Bryn Athyn's lead in half. Three minutes later, Johnson scored the final goal of the game unassisted.
Graham Lermitte recorded 47 saves between the pipes.
The Lions host Richard Stockton Sunday, December 16th. The puck is set to drop at 8:00pm.
