Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated PSU-Harrisburg 14-5 in Sunday night action.
David Dalcartivo led the team with four assists and one goal. Travis McCurdy and Cade Gurney each notched two goals and two assists. Ray Norfo and Jordan Roth recorded two goals and an assist each, while Terrence Johnson had three assists.
The Lions got on the board first at the 17:39 mark when Patrick Huber one-timed it in from the left side, for an unassisted goal. At the 9:28 mark, Dalcartivo passed to Travis McCurdy, who carried it up the left wing and connected with Gurney who shot the puck between the goalie's legs. PSU-Harrisburg answered two minutes later, chipping away at Bryn Athyn's lead. At the 5:32 mark, Huber and Dalcartivo connected with Travis McCurdy for the goal. Less than a minute later, Norfo passed to Gurney, who took a shot from the blue line, which rebounded off the goalie's pads to Roth, who found the back of the net, giving the Lions a 4-1 lead going into the second period.
During the second period of play, Dustin Synnestvedt scored at the 15:59 mark, off a pass from Dalcartivo. Thirty seconds later, Travis McCurdy found Gurney for the goal, giving Bryn Athyn a commanding 6-1 lead. PSU-Harrisburg scored at the 12:06 and 10:01 marks. At the 8:56 mark, Benjamin Silvers and Roth found Patrick Linehan, who took a slap shot from the point into the bottom right corner of the net. Two minutes later, Johnson and Linehan connected with Norfo, who shot top shelf for the goal. The Nittany Lions scored the final goal of the period at the 1:59 mark.
In the third period, Blake McCurdy scored an unassisted goal at the 18:39 mark. Twenty seconds later, Johnson found Norfo, who shot top shelf for the goal. At the 15:23 mark, Dalcartivo connected with Travis McCurdy who scored five-hole, giving Bryn Athyn an 11-4 lead. One minute later, Gurney passed the puck to Dalcartivo for the goal. At the 9:09 mark, PSU- Harrisburg scored, chipping away at the Lions' lead. At the 2:48 mark, Ray Weissler passed to Johnson who found Norfo for a backdoor goal. With three seconds left in the period, Steve Cappas passed the puck into the slot and connected with Blake McCurdy for the final goal of the game.
Matthew Bartalini recorded five saves in goal, while Graham Lermitte notched seven.
The Lions host East Stroudsburg Saturday, December 15th. The puck is set to drop at 4:00pm.
