Men's Ice Hockey Falls Short at Home

Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team fell 8-6 to Rutgers-Camden in their home opener. 

Travis McCurdy led the team with two goals and one assist. Terrence Johnson, Jordan Roth, and Cade Gurney each added one goal and one assist. Ray Weissler notched a goal, while Blake McCurdy had two assists, and Dave Dalcartivo recorded three assists. 

The Lions got on the board first at the 9:44 mark, when Roth took the puck up the ice and found Norfo for the goal. Rutgers-Camden answered two minutes later, tying the game at 1-1. At the 5:55 mark, Travis McCurdy and Blake McCurdy passed through traffic and connected with Gurney who found the back of the net. Ten seconds later, Blake McCurdy and Gurney connected with Travis McCurdy, who gave the Lions a 3-1 lead going into the second period.

During the second period of play, Travis McCurdy, assisted by Dalcartivo, scored his second goal of the game at the 16:53 mark. At the 9:43 mark, Weissler gave the Lions a 5-1 lead, when he found the back of the net off a pass from Johnson and Dalcartivo. At the 6:58 mark, Rutgers-Camden scored, chipping away at Bryn Athyn's lead. Two minutes later, the Lions answered when Dalcartivo passed the puck into the slot and found Roth.

During the final period of play, Rutgers-Camden came out strong, scoring six goals, to win the game 8-6. 

Steven Altman recorded 30 saves in goal.

The Lions return to the road Sunday, December 2nd to face Alvernia. The puck is set to drop at 7:00pm.
