BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team opens 2018 with its final non-conference game of the season on Friday, Jan. 5 against Penn State Brandywine at 5 p.m. in Asplundh Field House.

LAST TIME OUT
In its last contest, Bryn Athyn fell to 6-5 overall with a 91-55 loss to Lebanon Valley College in the Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic at Moravian College on Dec. 31. Rahim Washington paced the Lions with 11 points, while Larry Stevenson III tied his season-high of nine points. Lamarr Crenshaw grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds in the loss.

Lebanon Valley shot 51.5 percent (35-of-68) from the field, 41.2 percent (14-of-34) from 3-point range, and committed eight turnovers. Bryn Athyn hit 37.7 percent (23-of-61) of its shots, 23.1 percent (6-of-26) of its 3-pointers, and turned the ball over 17 times.

Penn State Brandywine is now 7-4 after a 93-80 setback to Haverford on Jan. 3. The Nittany Lions had four players score in double figures, led by James Fisher's 23 points. Fisher shot 7-of-15 from 3-point range. Penn State Brandywine was outrebounded 46-36. The Nittany Lion defense came up with 17 steals.

SCOUTING BRYN ATHYN
Bryn Athyn has had success at home this season with a 3-1 record in Asplundh Field House and scoring 73.5 points per game, 4.5 points above its season average.

In their six wins, the Lions are putting up 76.3 points per game on 44.2 percent shooting. Bryn Athyn is scoring just 60.2 points per game and shooting 38.4 percent from the floor in the five losses.

The Lions are 3-5 in non-conference play, scoring 65.6 points per game on .403 percent shooting and allowing 77.8 points per game.

Bryn Athyn is 4-0 when holding teams to under 70 points and 2-5 when allowing 70 or more points.

Rahim Washington is sitting fifth in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) in scoring with a team-high 17.8 points per game. He leads the conference in minutes per game (34.8) and is fourth in made field goals (67), fifth in steals (22), sixth in made free throws (42), and 16th in assists (29).

Washington—the team's top scorer nine times this season—is averaging 21.0 points per game at home and 20.2 points per game in the Lions' six victories.

Lamarr Crenshaw, Bryn Athyn's second-leading scorer—is ranked 16th in the NEAC with 14.6 points per game on 48.8 percent shooting, which is 15th in the conference. He is eighth in the conference with 62 made field goals. Crenshaw is the team's top rebounder with 6.5 boards per game.

SCOUTING PENN STATE BRANDYWINE
The Nittany Lions are coming off of back-to-back losses for the first time this season with double-digit home losses to Alvernia (77-59) and Haverford (93-80).

Penn State Brandywine is 4-0 on the road and averaging 88.8 points per game. The team is shooting better in away games (41.3 percent) compared to home games (39.6 percent). The Nittany Lions average 91.6 points per game in their seven wins and just 67.0 points per game in their three losses.

The team has four players in double-figure scoring, led by James Fisher's 15.8 points per game. Fisher is a major 3-point threat as he is making 3.8 per game and shooting 40.9 percent from behind the arc.

Terrence Brown (14.5 ppg), Rob Tindley (13.7 ppg), and Donte Winfield (10.7 ppg) are also scoring in double figures. Brown and Winfield have each started nine times, while Tindley has been a reserve in his nine appearances.

Ameer Staggs leads the team in rebounding with 8.6 per game.

Friday night will be the first meeting between the teams since Jan. 9, 2014. Bryn Athyn, a first-year program in 2013-14, defeated Penn State Brandywine, 79-55, in Asplundh Field House. Adonis Rosario came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points for the Lions.
