Aston, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team posted a 9-2 victory over Widener in DVCHC action Friday night.
Captain Danny Triesler and Jordan Roth had a hat-trick each. Dustin Synnestvedt put in two goals and Drew Collins notched one goal.
Ben Adams had two assists and Patrick Huber added an assist.
Treisler opened up the scoring with a rip from the right wing to beat the goalie, in the first three minutes of the game.
The Pride would score a goal midway through the first period, off a power play to tie the game at 1-1.
Roth scored the next three goals to record his first career natural hat-trick with the Lions, giving Bryn Athyn a commanding 4-1 lead.
The Lions would put in five more goals before Widener scored to chip away at the Lions' lead.
Bryn Athyn scored four power-play goals and five even strength goals.
Steven Altman recorded his first career win in goal for the Lions.
Coach Puscian expressed, "I am very impressed with our first win of the season, we played very well and represented the college well. Everyone came to play and supported each other."
Captain Treisler stated, "Tonight's game was a statement win. It was solid , fast, and passionate hockey. Although we succeeded, we aren't satisfied, and we never will be. Every period we increased our play and jumped on every opportunity that we came across. That is the effort that it takes to win hockey games, and we will follow that mentality into every play, every period, every shift, and every game. We deserved this win tonight."
Bryn Athyn heads to Rowan University Saturday, November 3rd for another DVCHC game. The puck drops at 5:15.
