Bryn Athyn, Pa – The men's basketball team picked up their third win of the season behind 20 points by Troy Steed. The Lions defeated Penn State Berks 95-70.
The first half the lions jumped out to 10-4 lead after Troy Steed made two free throws. A Rahim Washington three pointer mid-way through the half put the lions up by 10, 16-6. Berks then cut the lead to two after Michael Aldridge made two free throws. Three pointers by Devante Laws and Austin Nyekan extended the lead back to 24-14 with 7:21 left. The Lions were able to keep the lead through to the end of the half as the Lions went into half time with 39-28 lead.
The Lions came out roaring in the second with two quick baskets by Troy Steed and Adonis Rosario making the score 43-28. After Berk's Christian Burggraf made a three pointer to make the score 43-31. The Lions then went on a 9-0 run widening the margin, 52-31 with 16:41 left. The Lions then increased their lead to 20, 56-36, when Rahim Washington made a steal and finished it off with lay-up with 14:36 remaining. The Lions would not allow Berks to get back in the game while Troy Steed scored nine of his 20 points in the final 10 minutes of the game. The Lions held on for a comfortable 95-70 victory over Berks.
Troy Steed led the Lions with 20 points going 8 of 11 from the field. Adonis Rosario was second on the team in scoring with 14 and Deion Boyer added 12 points.
The Lions are back in action Thursday February 4th as they travel across town to take on Penn State Abington in their second NEAC match up of the season.
