At the 13:00 mark, the Lions had a chance when Roth took the puck up the ice on a breakaway, but missed just wide. Shippensburg scored again at the 2:24 mark, taking a 3-0 lead into the second period.
During the second period of play, the Raiders took a commanding 4-0 lead, with a goal at the 17:03 mark. The Lions then capitalized on a power play at the 8:52 mark, when Triesler scored off a back door pass from Johnson and Ben Silvers.
Bryn Athyn's defense came out strong in the third period, holding the Raiders to one goal. Four minutes into the period, Johnson passed the puck into the slot and connected with Triesler, who deked the goalie and found the back of the net. Six minutes later Roth scored off a rebound from the goalie's pads to record an unassisted goal.
Graham Lermitte recorded 34 saves between the pipes.
Triesler stated, "Tonight was a learning curve. Big game, in a big building. It was a good test for what we need to work on, as tonight was our first official game of the season. Towards the end of the game, in the second and third periods, we battled back with some much needed momentum, after some missed chances and collapses in our defensive zone. We didn't come out on top tonight, but we are taking this season one game at a time and we will continue to press harder and harder each game. We're looking forward to playing Lehigh tomorrow."
The Lions return to the road Sunday, October 28th to face Lehigh. The puck drops at 2:15 pm.
