Bryn Athyn student-athletes recognized at annual College Academic Achievement Ceremony

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College Department of Athletics had 32 student-athletes honored during the College's annual Academic Achievement Ceremony that was held virtually Thursday night.

In the first two trimesters of the 2019-20 academic year, Bryn Athyn College had 32 student-athletes earn a spot on the Dean's List. Of the 32 student-athletes to achieve Dean's List status, 15 Lions made the Dean's List in both the fall and winter trimesters. In order to make the Dean's List at Bryn Athyn College, a student must earn a 3.5 GPA or greater in a given trimester while taking at least 11 graded credits.

In addition to the Dean's List honorees, three student-athletes were awarded individual grants/scholarships.

Ice hockey forward and men's golfer Alec Grollman was the recipient of the Bryn Athyn College Alumni Association's Innovation and Leadership Award.

The Award is designed to encourage creative ideas that will improve engagement among students, support the mission, and bring the College closer to its surrounding community, including alumni. Students must apply with a proposal for a project and explain how they believe their project will meet the criteria. Alec earned the Award with his proposal to promote and expand career development opportunities for students.

Women's tennis player Aven-Leigh Schnarr is the recipient of The Nobre Computer Science Scholarship.

The Scholarship—funded by Nobre Computer Services, a company founded and owned by Bryn Athyn College graduates Calebe and Jennica Nobre—is intended to encourage and support Bryn Athyn College students in their study of computer science. For her senior project, Aven-Leigh plans to develop a mathematical model to optimize the locations of regional polling places to minimize travel distance and wait times for voters.

Women's volleyball outside hitter Allaina Brock earned a Biology Student Scholarship—a scholarship, funded by a generous donor gift, was awarded for the first time.
