Ponton headed to Coach at NCAA Academy Camp in South Carolina

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - For the second year in a row, Bryn Athyn College Head Women's Basketball Coach Travis Ponton has been selected as a coach for the NCAA College Basketball Academy, slated for Rock Hill, SC at the end of July.

Ponton was chosen for the first ever women's NCAA College Basketball Academy in Memphis last summer, so this makes back-to-back appearances for the leader of the Lions. As a part of its ongoing partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the NCAA selected over 400 girls basketball prospects from high schools and junior colleges all across the country and abroad, and assembled a coaching staff from colleges across America to lead the event.

"I'm really excited to be selected to coach at the NCAA Academy again this summer," Ponton said. "It's another great opportunity to represent Bryn Athyn College and our program on a national stage, while also being able to promote the women's basketball game that continues to grow in terms of worldwide acclaim and popularity. The NCAA pulls out all the stops for this event, so I can't wait to get out to Rock Hill and get to work."

Bryn Athyn has made three straight postseason appearances under Ponton's guidance coming out of the pandemic. The program saw the first postseason basketball victory in school history this past February, and made history on a national level as the number one three-point defensive team in all of NCAA basketball, men's and women's, all three divisions. No stranger to the WBCA, Ponton was a 2018-19 Thirty Under 30 Award recipient and has spoken at two WBCA Conventions held each April at the NCAA DI Final 4.
