This past weekend, the BAC Hockey Program celebrated and honored our hockey alumni. Brian Schnarr was recognized at the home game vs local rival Saint Joseph's Hawks.
Brian coached the BAC hockey team from 1967 until the early 1980s, and then again in the late 1990s. He co-founded the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC) in 1971. With this development, the BAC team had the opportunity to play in a league framework, and to take its place in an organized intercollegiate hockey forum. He was also involved with the establishment of the first rink on our campus in the 1970s.
The weekend festivities continued into Saturday with a lunch reception and alumni hockey game. The Alumni vs. Alumni game was a great success! An amazing 31 Bryn Athyn College hockey alumni took part in the game, all of whom played on our teams ranging for almost half a century (from 1973-74 until 2019-20)! The coaches were Brian Schnarr and Brian Horigan. The participants represented BAC teams from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020. All our teams that won championships had participants in the game. Our current hockey players were working as game day operations and referees for the game.
