BRYN ATHYN, Pa. -

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Before every season, Bryn Athyn College athletic teams come together for a seasonal commissioning service. This service is part of the commitment to the overall mission and vision of the college and the athletic department to help student-athletes develop spiritually and be challenged to explore their own spiritualty and where it may be present within the context of their team and program.  This past week, Head Chaplain, Reverend Coleman Glenn welcomed our spring sport programs into the Bryn Athyn Cathedral to challenge them with a message of responding to adversity and that adversity making us stronger. Reverend Glenn referenced the prophet, Elijah.

Elijah had a choice about how to view all his hardships. In one way of looking at things, every time things started to go well for him, something bad happened to ruin it. But from another perspective, every time something hard happened, God gave him enough to get through it, and gave him something better on the other side. In sports, there are challenging moments where student-athletes and coaches must decide what type of teammate and program member they want to be. There is much to be celebrated in that journey and doing that journey with one another
