The eighth season of competition for Bryn Athyn Women's basketball is set to start this week, as the Lions are set to host Penn State Berks at the Asplundh Field House. The 2021-22 is a return to a more normal season after the pandemic forced the Lions into an unprecedented shortened exhibition season last year.

The Lions are set to play a 24-game schedule and one exhibition against NCAA Division I opponent University of Maryland Eastern Shore for the 2021-22 season. Women's basketball is building off of a 2-4 COVID-19 Bubble season that saw the team sweep Wesley College and led to Coach Travis Ponton being named Coach of the Week by WHoopdirt.com.

The Coach Says: ""It's been quite a journey for us all since February 22, 2020. As crazy as that comeback victory was for us, we had no idea what was to come with the pandemic," Coach Travis Ponton said, "Fast forwarding to now, we are so grateful to be able to come together again and get back to a full regular season, with our eyes set on the CSAC Tournament in February, 2022. I love where our team culture is right now, and it's a testament to the hard work, leadership, and personality of the young women in our program! It's bound to be an interesting season, but we bring a wealth of experience to the table this year, with players who are in their 2nd and 3rd seasons as a part of our program. They know what it takes, and they know how we do things here. These young ladies are leading the charge, and I couldn't be more proud of them. We look forward to making a little more history with our exhibition game on November 16 at the University of Maryland- Eastern Shore, our program's first ever game against an NCAA DI opponent. Our student-athletes continue to raise our bar, and I can't wait to lock in and get after it with this group!"
