BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College Feild Hockey program announced its 2021 schedule on Monday morning, as the Lions will host six games at home on General Ronald K. Nelson Field throughout the regular season. The Lions are returning to the competition after the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 season. Much has changed for the Lions in the year off from competing. Former head coach, Katie Fitzgerald, resigned to explore other opportunities outside of athletics, and Heather Schauder took over as the new leader of the program. The team will also welcome four players who have not worn the Red and White.
Bryn Athyn will open the 4th season in program history on Thursday September 9 on the road at Marywood University. A week later (Sept. 16) the Lions will have their home opener under the lights at 7 p.m. against Immaculata. Bryn Athyn heads back on the road to take on Delaware Valley on Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. They continue their road trip on Sept. 25 as they take on conference opponent Cedar Crest for a night game at 7 p.m.
The Lions open up October with a home CSAC game against Centenary on Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. Bryn Athyn finishes up their non-conference schedule with a home game against Drew on Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. Returning to CSAC play, the Lady Lions travel on the road to Keystone on Oct. 9 for a 1 p.m. matchup. After six days off, the Lions host the Gators of Notre Dame on Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. Bryn Athyn wraps up their road schedule with a tilt against Wilson College on Oct. 21. The Lions finish their regular season with back to back home games on Oct. 30 and 31 against Lancaster Bible and Sweet Briar College.
Head Coach Heather Schauder said, "I am really excited for this upcoming season. While this program has undergone a few changes since our 2019 season, their energy and passion for the game has remained the same, if not grown. We have a couple of great additions to our roster this year and I can't wait to see these girls operate as a team on the field. I'm excited to see what this team can accomplish this season."
The CSAC Playoffs are set to begin November 3, 2021.
