#11 Matheus Chaves, Forward, Framingham, Ma.
Chaves appeared in two seasons of competition for the Lions. He played in 29 games while starting 27 of those contests. A dynamic forward, Chaves scored six goals and passed out 3 assists in his career resulting in 15 points as a Lion. Chaves was named All-CSAC Honorable Mention in 2019 after leading the Lions in goals and points. "Cha, came to our program as transfer for Framingham Ma. Matheus truly loves the game of soccer, as a proud Liverpool fan, and his passion for the game is evident in his play," Coach Bill O'Neill said. "In 2018, Matheus played in 14 games and earned a starting spot in 13 of those games. He scored his first collegiate goal on September 15th, 2018 against Desales. In 2019, Matheus was named All-CSAC honorable mention after leading the Lions with four goals and 10 points in 15 matches. Matheus recorded the seventh hat-trick in program history with a three-goal second half as part of a seven-point night (three goals, one assist) in a 5-1 win over Saint Elizabeth. Matheus is a very technical player that is very creative and wants to get to goal. He consistently worked on his game outside of practices and in the off season. Matheus is a lead by example player with a work rate that is admirable by the coaching staff and his teammates. Matheus has a passion for Psychology and will be working on his Graduate Degree in School Psychology. Our program will have a big void to fill with Matheus moving on. I am so excited to have been part of his journey and look forward to seeing the impact he will make in his career."
#6 Dawson Broomhead, Defense/Midfield, Philadelphia, Pa.
Broomhead, a Philadelphia local, played three seasons of competition for the Lions. He appeared in 30 games, making nine starts in his career. Broomhead was a consistent defender for Bryn Athyn. Coach O'Neill on Dawson, "Dawson came to our program as a second generation Lion into the mens soccer program. I was excited to have Dawson come to our program because he brought the gritty work rate of a typical Northeast Philadelphia soccer player coming for Phila Academy Charter as an all league player." O'Neill continued to share,"Dawson is tenacious defender and never is outworked. He made his mark on our program in his junior year, where he earned a starting position at outside back, Dawson has a great ability to make great runs to get into the offensive third and work to get back on the defensive side. Soccer aside Dawson has built a successful business and is already an entrepeneur. Dawson will be missed by our program but his future is already laid out in front of him. Dawson has truly led by example and exhibits the character for our players to follow."
Matheus and Dawson appreciate you both and all you gave to Bryn Athyn on and off the pitch.
