Game One
Lions battle Chargers in back and forth affair before losing 49-39.
How it happened:
First quarter for the Lions was a slow start after falling behind 7-2, but finished strong to close out the quarter down 9-7 thanks to a 5-2 run powered behind the hustle play of Clayshonia Cogmon and two free throws form junior, Terrae Lewis. Bryn Athyn kept the pressure on the Chargers in the second quarter. The Lady Lions opened the quarter on an 8-0 run thanks to strong offensive rebounding and pressure defense and stretched the lead to 15-9. Lancaster Bible would not go away and answered back with their own 6-2 run after a made jumper from Paige Town. The last four minutes of the second quarter saw both teams exchanging baskets and the half ended at the score of 21-18 in the Lions favor. Third quarter was the same story as the second. Both teams battled back and forth and the Chargers took a two point (33-31) into the final frame. The Chargers began to pull away from the Lions on a 10-2 run capped off by a 3-pointer from Faith Hammond with 4:06 left to play. Bryn Athyn would not go quietly though. The Lions battled back to to a 5 point deficit of 44-39 after a made triple from senior Jayda Campbell. Bryn Athyn extended the game with fouls, but LBC hit their free throws and handed the Lions their first loss of the season.

Bryn Athyn shot 20.5 percent (15-of-73) from the floor, including 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from beyond the arc…Lancaster Bible shot 34 percent (17-of-50) from the field, and blazing 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from 3-point range…The Lions forced 21 turnovers to along with 12 steals...B...The Lions were paced Clayshonia Cogmon with 11 points, 12 boards, and six steals. Jayda Campbell added 10 points and six rebounds. Aida Barry grabbed 10 rebounds in her first game as a Lion.
Game two
Poor shooting plagues Lions in act two against the Chargers. Bryn Athyn falls 65-42.
How it happened:
Bryn Athyn raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the contest from a layup by sophomore Kalie Soulsby and a 3-pointer from junior Alisha McKnight. LBC settled in and both teams traded baskets before the visitors pulled ahead to close out the first quarter with a 21-16 lead. The second quarter was all Lancaster Bible as the Lions struggled to make free throws and convert layups into points. Bryn Athyn headed into halftime with a 40-24 deficit to a hot shooting Charger team. The second half opened with Alisha McKnight drawing a foul at the 8:32 mark and going 1-of-2 from the charity stripe to cut the deficit to 15 points. The Chargers clamped down on the Lions in the third quarter holding the home team without a field goal in the third quarter. Lancaster Bible took a 53-26 lead into the fourth. The Lions attempted to mount a come back in the fourth with a 9-2 run over the first 5:20 of play with the score 55-35. The run was fueled by Clay Cogmon and Terrae Lewis who combined for 7 of the 9 points. The Lions could not pull any closer and dropped the contest. 65-42.

Bryn Athyn improved their shooting from game one and shot 30.8 percent (16-of-52) from the floor, and an improved 30.8 percent (4-of-13) from beyond the arc…Lancaster Bible shot 40.7 percent (22-of-54) from the field, and continued their hot shooting with 43.8 percent (7-of-17) from 3-point range…Alisha McKnight led the team in scoring with eight points and added two assists. Lewis put together her best game in her young Lion career with seven points and seven boards.
What the coach said:
"Give credit to Lancaster Bible on taking two wins from this weekend. I thought we definitely looked like a team that has not played a game this season," said Head Coach Travis Ponton. It is really hard to win games shooting the low percentages we are. We need to hit layups, but I thought our defense was a bright spot. We forced 36 turnovers over the two games and that's a staple of our program and LionMentality. Great thing about this weekend is we learned a lot about ourselves and we have two more opportunities against this team."
Notes
- The Lions drop to 0-2 on the year
- Bryn Athyn is averaging 12.5 steals which have the Lions just outside of the top 25 in Division III in steals per game.
- This weekend closes the home schedule for the Lions until the 2021-2022 season.
