What is your favorite aspect of being a coach?
I love being able to pass on my knowledge of and passion for the sport to others. Seeing the game "click" for athletes is tremendously gratifying.
What do you like about being a head coach at Bryn Athyn College?
This college and the surrounding community is truly a hidden gem. I have never been a part of an institution that cares so much about each and every person that sets foot on campus or is connected to the school in some way. Whether they be students, coaches, teachers, family members- Bryn Athyn cares about them and will make that obvious. I realized after my very first day on campus that I had found a home at Bryn Athyn.
What is your favorite moment as an athlete?
Walking into the gym and just being part of a unified team. There is no better feeling than being part of a team and having the long-lasting bonds that form naturally with teammates. Through every shared victory and defeat, the memories and relationships made with your teammates will never be forgotten.
What is your favorite coaching moment?
Not only making the conference playoffs for the first time but hosting and winning our first-ever home conference playoff match in 2018 was pretty incredible. Lots of firsts that night for our program. Definitely unforgettable.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
My wife and I are pretty outdoorsy people. Any day spent outdoors, no matter the season, is a good day in my book. Camping, hiking, boating, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and campfires - I find my happy place in all of them.
What inspired you to get into coaching?
The same person that got me into the sport inspired me to coach. My brother has been my idol since I was young and I have always followed in his footsteps. Seeing him pass his passion for the sport on to others (myself included) made me want to do the same.
What is your favorite bus activity?
Making sure we get there on time!
What is currently sitting in your Netflix queue?
Any National Geographic or sports-related documentary. And Cheer. Don't judge.
What coaches influenced you and your coaching style?
I have been really lucky- I've have had the opportunity to play for and work alongside some of the best coaches on the east coast. I've been able to take little pieces of each person's style to help mold my own style of coaching. I believe a coach's style is never perfected, so I am constantly reading and having conversations with other coaches and influencers to help grow my profession.
What would your advice be to a prospective student-athlete who is interested in coming to Bryn Athyn?
Bryn Athyn is the most personal and caring educational experience available. Bryn Athyn College will shape you into the best version of yourself and equip you with the tools needed to positively impact your community. Speak with as many people as possible at Bryn Athyn, but I guarantee you'll only have to ask one to know it's true.
