ROSEMONT, Pa. – After helping the Lions pick up two huge victories, Bryn Athyn College sophomore middle hitter Briana Cliney was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) women's volleyball player of the week Monday.
Cliney averaged 10.5 kills, 3.0 service aces, 2.0 digs, and 1.0 solo block in victories against CSAC opponents The College of Saint Elizabeth and Keystone. In the win over The College of Saint Elizabeth on Oct. 23, Cliney recorded a match-high six kills, while hitting .417, a career-high five service aces, four digs, one solo block, and one block assist in a 3-0 victory. Cliney led Bryn Athyn with 15 kills, a .375 hitting percentage, one ace, and one solo block as the Lions edged out Keystone 3-2 on Oct. 26 to clinch a place in the CSAC Tournament.
A conference weekly award winner for the first time in her career, Cliney is the first Lion to be recognized by the CSAC in 2019 and the third conference weekly award winner in program history.
Cliney sits fourth in the CSAC with a team-best .275 hitting percentage. She leads the team with 29 total blocks (10 solo, 19 assists), and is ranked second with 153 kills and fifth with 24 service aces.
Bryn Athyn (7-13, 5-3 CSAC) closes out the regular season at Cairn on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m.
