BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team's 2019 season gets underway with a pair of matches at the New Jersey City University tri-match against Farmingdale State and the host Gothic Knights.

  1. Bryn Athyn will bring back an experienced team with eight players returning from the 2018 team that went 9-13 overall, reached the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament for the first time, and won its first-ever postseason match. Three of the returning players (Briana Cliney, Hannah Dewees, and Jenessa Lombardi) were selected All-CSAC honorable mention.
  2. The nine wins last season under head coach Dennis Hibbs, going into his third season, was an eight-win improvement from 2017 and are tied for the second-most wins in a season in program history. Bryn Athyn was 4-4 in conference play, the Lions' best-ever record in conference play.
  3. As a freshman, Lombardi recorded 475 assists, the third-most in program history and fourth in the CSAC in assists in 2018. Dewees, going into her senior year, posted 200 kills to rank seventh in program history for kills in a year. Lex Juritsch enters her first season at Bryn Athyn with 698 career digs. Juritsch needs 19 digs to become the all-time school leader in digs. Cliney ranked first in the conference with a .296 hitting percentage and eighth with 0.56 blocks per set. Chloe Levan was fifth in the league last season with 4.14 digs per set.
  4. The lone newcomer to the team in 2019 is Alexis Nakos who was a three-time letter winner in volleyball at the Academy of the New Church.
  5. The Lions were picked fourth in the CSAC preseason coaches poll. Bryn Athyn, the fourth seed in last year's conference tournament, picked up 62 points in the poll. Notre Dame, the defending conference champion, took first with 98 points and nine of the 10 first-place votes.
