What is your favorite aspect of being a coach?
I believe the best part of coaching is having genuine and positive approaches to the integrity and overall accomplishments of your players. Nothing makes me happier than to help motivate student-athletes to develop character traits that will support their successes in life, beyond graduation.

What do you like about being a head coach at Bryn Athyn?Head coach Katie Fitzgerald with her husband Michael and daughters Hartlee (left) and Lennon (right).
Working and collaborating with our awesome group of coaches, as well as getting to know each athlete and team personally.

What is your favorite moment as an athlete?
Winning the PIAA state championship in my junior year of high school.

What is your favorite coaching moment?
I have a bunch of favorites, but the most exciting was beating New England College in overtime in 2018.

What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Spend quality time with my husband and two daughters, Lennon and Hartlee. We love to be outdoors and explore new places.

What inspired you to get into coaching?
Growing up, my parents encouraged us to be active and try any sport we could. My father was a dual athlete in college, as well as a coach for every sport we played. He was a great coach - super competitive, but yet very compassionate. I guess you can say it was in my blood!

What is your favorite bus activity?
Our team is all about their music selection - so definitely singing/jamming out.

What is currently sitting in your Netflix queue?
Every children's show imaginable! For the parents (when we have time), definitely Tiger King (obviously) and The Office (Have to represent my hometown!).

What coaches influenced you and your coaching style?
Great question - I think I can say I have taken pieces of every coach I have had the opportunity to play for or coach for and molded it into my own style. I've had some pretty amazing coach and have worked for some of the hardest working individuals in the field hockey world. I'm very thankful!
