Men's Ice Hockey Cruise Past Southern Connecticut, 6-2

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated Southern Connecticut, 6-2 in non conference action Saturday afternoon. 

Jayson Marbach led the Lions with one goal and three assists.  Kyle Jennings and Travis McCurdy scored one goal and one assist each.  Justin Nugent, Shane McCurdy, Anthony Astorino, and Chris Ebersole scored one goal each.

Shane McCurdy started the scoring for the Lions, punching in a rebound shot from Devyn Dworsky at the 9:00 minute mark of the first period.  Bryn Athyn would end the first period with a one goal lead.  

Travis McCurdy scored 45 seconds into the second period to extend the Lions lead to 2-0.  Two minutes later, the Owls scored to bring the game within one, 2-1.  Marbach sniped a goal from the circles, to rebuild the Lions lead to 3-1, at the 4:31 mark.  With a minute left in the period, Astorino scored from the blue line to give the Lions a 4-1  lead to send the second period. 

Nugent scored from the hash marks on the power play, to extend the Bryn Athyn lead to 5-1, with three minutes left in the game.  While on a 5-3 power-play, the Owls picked up a loose puck on the blue line and scored to chip away at the Lions lead. But Ebersole scored with 52 seconds left in the game, to end the game a 6-2 win.

Landon Trutt made 24 saves in net for the Lions.
