Newark, DE – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team picked their first win on the new year on the road at Delaware in DVCHC conference action.
Jayson Marbach led the Lions with two goals and five assists. Travis McCurdy and Chris Ebersole scored two goals and had two assists each. Anthony Notofrancesco had one goal and notched two assists. Paul Napierkowski and Justin Nugent had one goal and one assist each. Shane McCurdy and Nikita Klinisovs had one goal each.
Both teams started the first period scoreless, while putting lots on shots on net.
Bryn Athyn took the lead, 22 seconds into the second period off a goal from Napierkowski from the blue line. A minute later, Ebersole punched in a pass from Notofrancesco in the slot to take a 2-0 lead. Marbach sniped a goal from top of the circles to take a 3-0 lead at the 7:49 mark. Delaware scored one of their two goals at 8:21, to chip away at the Bryn Athyn 3-1 lead. Notofrancesco answered with a goal 40 seconds later to retake a three goal lead, 4-1. The Blue Hens scored their last goal of the night at the 11:01 mark. Bryn Athyn would end the period with two unanswered goals from Marbach and Travis McCurdy.
The Lions kept their offensive dominance in the third period, scoring five unanswered goals. Shane McCurdy started the scoring of the Lions at the 3:40 mark, scoring a goal off a pass from Napierkowski. Ebersole added to the scoring 40 seconds later to take a 8-2 lead. The Lions would finish the game scoring three more goals from Travis McCurdy, Nugent and Klinisovs.
Graham Lermitte made 20 save in net for the Lions in net.
Bryn Athyn returns back home tomorrow to take the ice against Neumann at 2:30 pm.
