Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated Delaware, 6-2 in DVCHC conference action Tuesday night.
Justin Nugent, Scott Witmyer, Jayson Marbach and Cullen McNally scored one goal and one assist each. Kyle Jennings notched two assists. Anthony Astorino and Travis McCurdy scored one goal each.
Bryn Athyn took control of the game in the first period. At the 12:14 mark, defenseman Astorino scored off a pass from Marbach to put the Lions on the board 1-0. A minute later, Nugent scored off a pass from Nikita Klinisovs and Anthony Notofrancesco. Witmyer scored off a pass from Jennings in the slot at the 6:53 mark to push the Bryn Athyn lead to 3-0. The Blue Hens scored at the 5:17 mark to bring the Lion's lead within two. With three minutes left in the first, Marbach scored to extend the Bryn Athyn lead to 4-1.
The Blue Hens contained the Lions to one goal in the second period. McCurdy scored off a pass from Sean Feyler and Billy Martin.
Bryn Athyn kept the pressure in the third period, McNally scored at 10:07 mark off a pass from Witmyer on the power play. With seven seconds left in the game, Delaware scored their second goal of the night.
Landon Trutt made 24 saves in net for the Lions.
