Lancaster, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College women's tennis team recorded their first collegiate win, defeating Lancaster Bible College 5-4 in Tuesday afternoon action.
At first doubles, Kateryna Grafska and Beth Earle won 9-7. Megan Reinprecht and Holly Adams dropped 8-0 at second doubles, and Emily Ball and Katrina Hughes defeated their opponents 8-2 at third doubles.
At first singles, Earle won 6-0, 6-0. At the No. 2 spot, Grafska fell in the first set 6-3, battled back to win the second set 7-5, but fell short in the tiebreaker, losing 10-3. Adams was defeated 6-2, 6-0 at third singles. At the No. 4 slot Reinprecht won the first set 6-3, dropped the second set 6-1, and lost the third set 6-3. Hughes won 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot, and at sixth singles, Ball recorded the deciding point for the Lions, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-2.
Co-captain Earle expressed, "I was very impressed at how hard the girls fought for each and every point today. Having two matches go into a third set shows how much we have improved from the beginning of the season."
Head Coach Joseph expressed, "I'm very proud of the team. Our weeks of practice and matches have prepared us for this win and the underclassmen really carried the team today."
The Lions return to the court Saturday, April 28th against St. Mary's of Maryland. The match is slated to begin at 12:00pm.
