First Period Propels Men's Ice Hockey Past Rowan in DVCHC Semifinals

Aston, Pa.  – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated Rowan, 11-4 in the DVCHC conference semifinals Sunday night. 

Scott Witmyer led the Lions with four goals and two assists.  Jayson Marbach scored three goals and one assist.  Terrence Johnson put in one goal and one assist.  Benjamin Silvers, Justin Nugent and Jordan Roth all scored one goal each. 

Bryn Athyn took control of the game from the start, with a goal by Witmyer off a pass from Anthony Notofrancesco a minute into the game.  The Lions added to it with a goal by Marbach at 17:39 off a pass from Johnson and Norfo.  Witmyer scored two back-to-back goals within four minutes to build their lead to 4-0 with 12 minutes left in the period.  Johnson scored 30 seconds later to add to the Bryn Athyn lead.  Marbach scored the sixth goal of the first period at 10:12.  Rowan scored their first goal of the night at 7:32 to get on the board.  The Lions would score two more goals, going into the second period with a 8-1 lead.  

Rowan would be the only team to score in the second period at the 13:29 mark to chip away at the Bryn Athyn lead to 8-2. 

The Profs started the third period scoring at the 16:00 minute late.  The Lions scored two goals at 13:46 by Nugent and another one two minutes later to extend the Bryn Athyn lead to 10-3.  Rowan would score their last goal at 8:52. Bryn Athyn would finish the game with a goal at 6:05 by Marbach to win the game 11-4.
