Men's Ice Hockey Takes Down D1 Villanova 5-4 in OT

Bryn Athyn, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated Division I Villanova 6-5 in overtime, Friday night in non conference action. 

Terrence Johnson led the Lions with one goal and two assists.  Anthony Notofrancesco scored two goals.  Kyle Jennings scored one goal and one assist.  Travis McCurdy scored the game winning goal.

The Wildcats took control of the first period scoring at the 7:53 mark.  Bryn Athyn brought the offense pressure in the second period, Notofrancesco backdoor at 6:09, off a shot from Witmyer.  Villanova answered a minute later with a goal of their own to retake their one goal lead.  Notofrancesco tied the game at 5:02 off a loose rebound from a Witmyer shot.  30 seconds later, Bryn Athyn's Johnson scored on a break away through the Wildcats five hole.  The Lions go into the third period with a 3-2 lead.  

Bryn Athyn capitalized on their second period offense, Jayson Marbach took the puck down the left side, deking the goalie to extend the Lion lead to 4-2.  Villanova answered with three unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead with 3:45 left in the game.  Jennings tapped in a shot from Feyler from the right circle at 2:17 to tie the game at 5-5.  Both teams would end the game tied and go into a four on four, five minute overtime.

Both teams battled in overtime with multiple chances to win the game.  McCurdy picked up a rebound off a Jennings shot to win the game at 2:51.
