Reading, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team defeated Alvernia 3-2 in DVCHC conference action Thursday night on the road.
Terence Johnson led the Lions with two goals. Jayson Marbach scored one goal. Scott Witmyer notched two assits.
The Crusaders took control of the game for minutes into the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions would go into the second period break trailing by one goal.
Start of the second period, the Lions brought their fire power scoring two goals to take a 2-1 lead. Johnson scored his first goal of the night at 9:02, off a pass from Dave DalCortivo. Marbach jumps out of the penalty box and speeds his way to the blue line to pick up a long pass from Witmyer of the defensive zone to score crossbar high on an one on one at 5:47 left in the second period.
The Lions start playing the third period defensively sound, keeping the Crusaders away from the slot. Johnson scored with a 1:27 left in the game to take an commanding two goal lead off a pass from Travis McCurdy and Witmyer. Alvernia would put in one, with 44 seconds in the game, but it wasn't enough to take down the Lions.
