BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's lacrosse team returns to action after a week off and will look for its second straight win to start the 2018 season when the Lions host Westminster (Pa.) College Saturday at noon on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.

LAST TIME OUT
The Lions opened their 2018 campaign with a convincing 10-0 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent on March 10. Bryn Athyn has now won its last three season openers.

Westminster started its season with a 20-0 loss to Florida Southern, the No. 1 team in Division II, on March 5.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will be the first meeting between Bryn Athyn and Westminster, a second-year program.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Bryn Athyn has won five straight non-conference contests, dating back to March 13, 2017—the 2017 season opener. The Lions have an average margin of victory in those games of 11.6 goals.

Last Saturday's victory over the Dolphins was the second shutout in the program's history. The first shutout came back on March 31, 2015 when the Lions blanked the College of Saint Elizabeth, 15-0. Anja Weisser was the starting goalie in both contests. In the most recent shutout, Weisser stopped seven shots.

The Lions improved to 13-3 under head coach Denise Roessler when they score at least 10 goals in a match.

Sabrina Colbridge recorded her 10th career hat-trick for Bryn Athyn with a three-goal effort in the win over Mount Saint Vincent.

Sarah Smith scored five times in her Bryn Athyn debut. The five goals are one shy of her career high of six which came in her freshman year at North Greenville against St. Andrews College on Feb. 13, 2016. Smith finished that game with seven points.

Bryn Athyn's defense held Mount Saint Vincent to just 12-of-26 on clearing attempts. The Lions also won the ground ball battle 27-15.

SCOUTING WESTMINSTER
The Titans went 1-9 in their first season as a varsity program in 2017. Westminster brought back two of its top three leading scorers from last year, including leading scorer Bria Braddock who had 30 goals and two assists. Emily D'Amico scored 13 times.

Against Florida Southern, D'Amico had one of the team's three shots, while Braddock was held without a shot. Braddock did pick up a team-high three draw controls and three ground balls.

Matalyn Holland stopped nine shots in her collegiate debut in goal.
