Bryn Athyn, PA - The Bryn Athyn College women's lacrosse team hosted Medaille on a snowy Saturday afternoon. The Lions picked up their second victory in the NEAC beating Medaille 8-7.

Coach Roessler expressed, "The coaches and players are all very proud of the victory that we earned today.  In the most difficult of elements and against a very talented Medaille team our team turned in our best effort to date.  Offensively, defensively, and in transition, our team demonstrated terrific growth over our last couple games.  Our hats are off to Medaille  who certainly kept fighting to the very end and forced our team to earn the victory for all 60 mins.  We hope to use the momentum as we face a very talented Poly team tomorrow."

The Lions and Mavericks faced off in tough conditions on Saturday afternoon at Bryn Athyn College. The Mavericks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. The Lions Emma Gross added two unassisted goals at the 17:18 and 12:00 minute mark to tie the game, 2-2. The half would end with the score knotted at 2 all. The Lions outshot the Mavericks in the half 13-10 and defensively picked up more ground balls 10-5.

The Lions would open up the second half going on to outscore the Mavericks 6-0 in the first 12 minutes of the second half. Michelle Bedford started the scoring with a goal from a free position shot in the first minute of the second half. Five minutes later, Miranda Hyatt added an unassisted goal. Sabrina Colbridge added to the scoring at the 13:31 mark to make the score 5-2. Emma Gross scored her third goal of the game to put the Lions up 6-2, a minute later. Jessica Phillip took a pass from Laura Clymer from outside of the crease, at the 9:09 mark to make the score 7-2. Sabrina Colbridge added her second goal of the game to finish out the Lions scoring on the day. 

Bryn Athyn took a commanding six-goal lead until the Mavericks started to back-back to score 5 unanswered goals. Two goals by the Maverick's Amanda Ruszczyk helped cut the Lions lead to one with 40 seconds left. The Lions defense was able to hold on for the 8-2 victory.

The Lions now move to 1-1 in NEAC and 2-3 overall. The Lions were led by Emma Gross with 3 goals on 9 shots, as well as a game-high four groundballs. Sabrina Colbridge added two goals in the Lions win. Anja Weisser made 11 saves on 18 shots for the Lions. 

Bryn Athyn returns back to action on Sunday afternoon as they host SUNY Poly in a NEAC match up at 3:00 pm. The game will be played at PSU Abington Memorial Field. The field is located at 1151 Huntingdon Rd, Abington, PA 19001
