Late Surge by Lions falls short in 10-8 loss to PSU Abington

Bryn Athyn Pa- The Lions hosted PSU Abington in their first NEAC game of the season. The Lions comeback fell short in 10-8 loss to the Nittany Lions.

The Lions fell behind early in the game when Abington jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. Sabrina Colbridge got the Lions on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal with 3:22 left in the half. Abington scored another a couple minutes later, but the Lion's Emma Gross scored an unassisted goal with five seconds left to make the acore 5-2 in favor of Abington.

Laura Clymer opened up the scoring for the Lions in the second half to get the Lions within two, 5-3. Abington then scored four unanswered goals to take a demanding 9-3 lead. At the 14:02 the Lions would start their comeback after a goal from Miranda Hyatt from a free position shot. Michelle Bedford then added an unassisted goal to get the Lions within 4, 9-5. Abington did make the score 10-5, when the Lions scored three unanswered goals. Laura Clymer scored an unassisted goal at the 7:10 mark to make the score 10-6. One minute later Miranda Hyatt earned a free position shot and scored on her opportunity. Michelle Bedford then added a goal as she beat the Abington goalie to make get the Lions within two, 10-8. The Lions continued to put on the pressure and goalie Anja Weisser made some big stops in the last three minutes. The Lions were not able to climb any closer and fell to Abington 10-8.

The Lions battled back in the 10-8 loss and move to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Lions were led by Laura Clymer, Miranda Hyatt and Michelle Bedford who scored 2 goals each. The Lions goalie Anja Weisser made 15 saves on 25 shots.

The Lions are back in action Saturday April 9th, as they host Medaille at 3:00 pm.
